Badminton Asia Championships open in Ningbo

The Bank of Ningbo Badminton Asia Championships 2026 opened at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center on April 7, bringing together the continent's top players for an exciting week of competition.

Chinese shuttlers will face a lineup of elite opponents, including An Se-young, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Kim Won-ho, and Seo Seung-jae, promising fans a thrilling showcase of world-class badminton.

Team China arrived in Ningbo in advance, diving straight into intensive pre-tournament training at the venue to fine-tune their form ahead of the big event.

Among the main highlights is the popular men's doubles pair Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang, known as the "Liang-Wang" duo, who are returning as event ambassadors. Wang revealed that playing at home is especially meaningful to him, and he and his partner aim to give their all in every match.

Former champion Jonatan Christie of Indonesia described the city as a lucky place and hopes to achieve another strong result this year, while Chinese pair Chen Boyang and Liu Yi said they are determined to advance further with steady performances.

This marks the third time Ningbo has hosted the championships. Many players have praised not only the city's vibrant atmosphere but also its memorable cuisine.
