Ningbo Ninghai Airport marked a major milestone on March 27, when a Cessna 208 aircraft took off from the runway, marking the airport's inaugural flight and the official start of operations at Ningbo's first runway-type general aviation airport.
The new facility is located in Changjie town, Ninghai county. Built with a total investment of 644 million yuan ($93.19 million), the airport covers about 325,000 square meters and features an 800‑meter runway, a 20‑stand apron, and supporting facilities including a terminal, hangars, and a logistics center.
The airport's first flight means Ninghai is now home to Ningbo's first A1-class general aviation airport, closing a regional infrastructure gap and laying a solid foundation for future industry development.
Ninghai has also partnered with Zhejiang Provincial Airport Group to establish a professional operator and has planned 20 helicopter landing sites across the county, with three already in use.
