Youths from Japan, South Korea gather in Ningbo for cultural exchange
The 2025 "Cultural City of East Asia" China-Japan-ROK Youth Exchange event was held from Oct 24 to 26 in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, bringing together over 30 young representatives from China's Ningbo, Japan's Nara, and South Korea's Jeju.
This event marked the 10th anniversary of the Cultural City of East Asia initiative, fostering friendship and cultural understanding through art.
The event kicked off with ice-breaking activities at the Ningbo Cultural Center, where participants engaged in group interactions and performances, overcoming language barriers in a relaxed atmosphere.
A key focus was on dance workshops, where young people learned traditional Chinese, pop, and street dances under professional guidance, creating a shared artistic experience.

In addition to dance, participants explored Ningbo's rich cultural heritage with visits to the Tianyi Pavilion, China's oldest surviving private library, experiencing the depth of Chinese history, and the Nantang Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall, where they made traditional Ningbo pastries.
They also attended the "Cultural City of East Asia" Symphony Concert, enhancing their cultural appreciation.
An art exhibition at the Ningbo Youth Art Center featured over 50 works by more than 220 young people from the three countries, including paintings, installations, and mixed media.
The event concluded with a grand performance featuring symphonies, dances, and choral music, celebrating the vibrant cultural exchange.
Since 2016, Ningbo, Nara, and Jeju have been key partners in this annual cultural initiative.
